Tyson Foods has energetically partnered with a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company to turn leftover beef, pork, and chicken fat into what?

  1. Cleaning products
  2. Paper
  3. Micro chips
  4. Diesel fuel

Correct answer: D. Diesel fuel. Tyson is already working with ConocoPhillips to produce synthetic diesel fuel.

2. “The Wall Street Journal” reports that “Rahodeb,” a longtime Yahoo chat rooms poster about Whole Foods and its competitor (and acquisition target) Wild Oats, is actually who?

  1. Whole Foods’ CEO
  2. An FTC official
  3. Wild Oats’ majority stock holder
  4. A business reporter

Correct answer:  A.  Whole Foods’ CEO John Mackey.  Mackey has been a frequent visitor to chat rooms devoted to stock trading, with 1,394 postings between 1999 and 2006.  His actions could jeopardize Whole Foods’ planned acquisition of competitor Wild Oats. A sample posting:  “Oats leadership lacks either competence or integrity and probably both.”

  1. “Sponge Bob Square Pants”
  2. “Sesame Street”
  3. “The Simpsons”
  4. “24”

Correct answer: C.  “The Simpsons.”  “We want to have a little fun with our customers and fans of ‘The Simpsons,’” said Doug Foster, 7-Eleven’s chief marketing officer. The chain also created products that mimic those on the TV show, including Krusty O’s cereal, Buzz Cola, and frozen Squishees (but no Duff Beer, due to the film’s PG-13 rating).

  1. Viagra

  4. Vasotec

Correct answer: A. Viagra.  Hamsters given the drug recovered from the equivalent of human jet lag up to 50% faster than hamsters who were not given sildenafil.  However, the effect worked only for simulated westward travel, not eastward.
